History

It was February 26, 1986 during the height of the farm crisis that God called us to open Jesus' Right Hand in New Virginia, Iowa. With the help of a committee of individuals and a very special man who made it possible for us to go into a building rent free, we opened the doors in Jesus’ name. We gave food, clothes and spiritual encouragement to those in need. The ministry was officially incorporated on April 18, 1986. It was through the guidance of others that we learned how to operate properly as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Through prayer we sought God and learned He wanted this to be a faith ministry. At that time, we were sure we knew what it meant to be a "faith ministry". However, as we continued to grow and learn, we discovered that being a faith-based ministry meant so much more.

In October of 1990 we opened a second Jesus' Right Hand Center in Ames, Iowa. We also opened a third location in Creston, Iowa. These centers operated until about 2005 when we closed them to focus our energies on our New Virginia location.

We have helped many since our opening in 1986. The help may have been in the form of food, clothes, spiritual guidance or assistance in making Jesus Christ the Lord of their life.

Founders Larry and Karen Linhart remained a team that worked diligently to fulfill the call and purpose that was given to them until Larry was welcomed into Heaven on February 26th, 2003, exactly 17 years to the day of first opening the doors of Jesus’ Right Hand. Two months later, Karen wrote an anointed, heartfelt article in the April 25, 2003 newsletter that touched the hearts and lives of countless people. Read the entire article here.

Then, on September 1st, 2021, Karen was reunited with Larry at the gates of Heaven, and she heard the words she longed to hear from Jesus, “Well done, good and faithful servant…”.

A new chapter has now opened for the path of Jesus’ Right Hand as the staff and volunteers continue to minister to the needs of anyone who may walk into this ministry. New directors, David & Joyce Mastin are committed to holding fast to the vision and goals of Jesus’ Right Hand’s original purpose while expanding the vision and potential of this ministry. The original goal of providing help to those in need and reaching out to those who are broken-hearted and hurting with the good news of Jesus Christ will always remain the same.
