Testimonials

We would like to share a few examples of the activities of our ministry and how it has affected the people we serve.

  • A mother brought her little girl in for clothes.  The conversation progressed and it was learned that the little girl was facing surgery in a week. The staff asked if they could pray for her. As a result she was healed and surgery wasn’t needed.
  • A man called who hadn't eaten in three days. He had just been released from prison. He came where he thought his family was and couldn't find them. He needed food. One of the staff brought supper from home and encouraged him with the living Word. As a result he found someone who listened and loved him just as he is.  He no longer has a desire for his former life and has made the decision not to go back to it.  Even at this writing he is being encouraged.  He is learning the only way to stay out of trouble is to be loved and cared for.  We believe he will soon make a commitment to Christ.  He has never heard the "Good News" in such a way and is eager to learn.  Praise God!!
  • We have sent clothes through churches to Mexico, Indian Reservations in South Dakota, Bosnia and Spanish families in Des Moines.
  • We have had the privilege of handing out blankets under the bridges in Des Moines.
  • We have helped many people stranded on the Interstate.  Once we put up a family of 11 for three days.  They slept on the floor with the bedding we provided.  God saw to it that the community provided help in fixing their car to send them on their way.  They ranged in age from 50 down to a few months old.
  • Someone picked up a hungry couple on the highway who had lost everything hitchhiking and brought them to us.  We put them up in a motel for a few days and provided their food.  We also found work for them until they were on their feet and able to move on to more familiar territory.
  • Help has been provided to victims of floods, fire and abuse.

Our Continuing Commitment

In faith we know, if God sends them to us, He also has provided help in some way.  This means the physical evidence of what is required to satisfy and individual's need doesn't always exist at the time.  But, it is on the way.  Praise God!!  We have a responsibility of introducing those He sends to Jesus Christ, the permanent problem fixer.  No, they do not all listen or respond in a kind way. Some are or become angry.  But that is not our concern.  Our first responsibility is to God and doing things His way.  Yes, we have made errors; and being human, probably will make more as we learn to be more like God.  It is when we mess up that God's grace comes in to cover us.  Our real desire is to be pleasing in His sight and loving to all.
